Cyber Security Consulting

Cyber attacks have risen to unprecedented levels of sophistication and frequency. In 2009, there were 25 million new strains of malware. Cisco reported that "Web malware grew at an alarming 139% in 2010 compared to 2009". According to McAfee (PDF), "2011 is on track to finish as a record-breaking year for malware in general--exceeding very generous predictions." This proved to be particularly true regarding mobile devices. Information systems, which can be a critical advantage, can also be an Achilles’ heel.

FGM is a valuable partner in ensuring that information systems are a force multiplier rather than a weakness our enemies use against us. To ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information resources, cyber risks need to be identified and mitigation strategies incorporated into the design and development of information systems. FGM has extensive experience in developing secure information systems for the DoD and Intelligence community. Using encryption services, firewalls, and proprietary network defense tools, FGM specializes in detecting, preventing, and responding to unauthorized attempts to access protected information systems.

FGM’s Cyber Warfare Expertise

Protecting information systems against cyber attacks requires a deep understanding of cyber warfare and methods of attack. FGM has considerable cyber warfare experience to offer:

  • Research emerging cyber warfare techniques and enabling technologies.
  • Recommend initiatives to support emerging cyber warfare requirements.
  • Full life-cycle development of cyber warfare and enabling capabilities.
  • Research and analyze information operations (IO) related issues and information sources.
  • Develop IO deliberate and crisis action plans.
  • Design and develop computer network defense and offensive disruptive capabilities.

Expert Analysis to Enhance Cyber Security

FGM uses our experience, coupled with subject matter experts (SMEs) in cyber warfare and in crucial areas of cyber security to provide a proficient analysis of a system’s susceptibility to penetration as well as its adherence to security protocols. Our SMEs work closely with clients to develop a security management plan which consists of vulnerability assessment, risk mitigation, and an audit. The vulnerability assessment identifies areas of a system that may be susceptible to attack. Our security engineers then recommend and implement risk mitigation measures to correct them.

We have experience assessing the security posture of systems against a variety of criteria, including DCID 6/3, ICD 503, ISO 27001/17799, and NIST pubs. While a baseline audit can be conducted for certification, FGM recommends a more holistic approach of customizing an audit using best practices from across the spectrum of standards (DoD, Intel, NIST, EU) to create a tailored list of requirements that will make your system as secure as possible.
