Jackie Lawrence

As a Senior Vice President, Strategic Consulting and a senior member of FGM’s corporate management team, Dr. Jackie Lawrence’s corporate duties include technology infusion across FGM’s products, strategic planning, and internal technology consulting. He leads FGM’s IT services and strategic consulting groups, and he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of FGM’s networks and enterprise-level business support systems. Dr. Lawrence also provides senior systems engineering and architecture services to existing clients and for select strategic business development initiatives. He actively supports FGM’s customers, particularly for C4ISR systems, by developing net-centric architectures and implementations, and by developing strategies for migrating existing C4I systems to an enterprise-level, services-based architecture. Dr. Lawrence directly supports Department of Defense net-centric initiatives, including DISA’s Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) and Net-Enabled Command Capability (NECC) programs.
Dr. Lawrence has over 25 years experience in all aspects of the software lifecycle from requirements generation to design, implementation, and fielding. As the author of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Common Operating Environment (COE) Integration and Runtime Specification (I&RTS), he is an acknowledged expert in the COE and the Common Operational Picture (COP).
Prior to joining FGM in 2001, Dr. Lawrence was Vice President and Technical
Director for INRI (now part of Northrop Grumman). He joined INRI in 1991 to establish a technical presence in the Washington, DC area. He supported US Navy C2 systems onsite in the Persian Gulf during the Gulf War, and during various military operations throughout the 1990s. He is one of the original inventors and architects of the COE concept, and was a key contributor to the development and deployment of DISA’s Global Command and Control System (GCCS), as well as the US Navy’s Global Command and Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M).
Dr. Lawrence began his professional career at General Electric in the areas of robotics and computer vision where he led the development team that produced what is believed to be the first commercially-available Ada compiler. Dr. Lawrence also conducted research in military application on artificial intelligence and related disciplines for Unisys Corporation, and research in computer security and artificial intelligence for PRC.
A Kentucky native, Dr. Lawrence received his BA degree in mathematics from Western Kentucky University. He graduated summa cum laude and received the Scholar of the University and Scholar of Ogden College awards. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri-Rolla with masters and doctoral degrees in computer science. His academic specialties include operations research, database management systems, compilers, and operating systems. Prior to joining industry, he taught mathematics, graphics, database, and other university-level computer science courses
