Mr. Chang presently serves as FGM’s Vice President responsible for the Advanced Systems Division, a division focused on delivering security, cyber warfare and network communications solutions to the U.S. intelligence community agencies, the U.S. DOD, and law enforcement. Until 2010, Mr. Chang was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Edge Technologies, a leading content security and data visualization technology company headquartered just outside of Washington, D.C.
He co-founded Edge in 1993 with a focus on the government and commercial communications, telecommunications, and network security markets. With his consistent commitment to leverage emerging technologies, Mr. Chang positioned Edge as an industry leader, winning a patent for enPortal™, the only secure and real-time software platform designed specifically for enterprise management. Other innovations and industry firsts include Data Alchemist, a patented content assurance and cyber defense product; N-Vision, the first web-interface to HP’s Openview™; View-on-the-Web, a secure on-line surveillance service which was later sold to WatchMeGrow; Web-MGI, the first on-line transactional database service for the Agricultural industry; and now AppBoard, a data visualization tool. Mr. Chang completed the acquisition of venture capital firm Evolve in 1999 and secured investment financing in 2000 to launch enPortal™.
His ability to anticipate technology market trends and his appreciation for customers’ operational mission objectives have enabled him to establish an exemplary reputation for Edge as a company capable of achieving consistent success in complex system implementation projects and in meeting tactical goals. Mr. Chang’s integrity and unwavering customer focus have earned him industry-wide recognition and enabled him to develop long-standing relationships within the U.S. Government intelligence community.
Prior to Edge, Mr. Chang was a project manager at GTE Government Systems where he managed an engineering team that completed development of a complex network monitoring and management system, which is still in operation today. He has addressed audiences at multiple technology forums, U.S. Government agencies, and trade associations, appeared on CNN-FN, and served as a panelist alongside other industry leaders including one of the “Fathers of the Internet,” Dr. Vint Cerf, former Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger, and U.S. Congressman Tom Davis, the former information technology working group chairman.
Mr. Chang holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.B.A. from George Mason University.
